Recently released UK cosmetic surgery figures found that many popular procedures had stayed relatively static from the previous year, but one op that saw significant growth was liposuction. It’s no surprise that lipo is such a popular cosmetic surgery procedure as many of us struggle to eradicate stubborn pockets of excess body fat, however, committed we are to a healthy diet and exercise routine and liposuction can permanently reduce fat on the body or face. Here’s what to expect after lipo and how to manage your liposuction recovery.
What to expect during your liposuction recovery?
Immediately, after your procedure, you will experience some discomfort which should be managed with over-the-counter painkillers. There will be bruising and there can be a lot of swelling which can take some weeks to fully subside; you will be advised to wear a compression garment that can help reduce the swelling and promote healing.
Will there be any scarring after lipo?
To perform liposuction, Mr Stephen Morley makes incisions in the treatment area, through which he inserts the cannula to remove the excess fat. These incisions are very small and are positioned so they will be as unnoticeable as possible when healed.
When will I see my liposuction results?
Your final results won’t be immediately apparent as there will be a degree of swelling that can take six weeks or more to fully subside. You should expect to see the final results at three months post-procedure.
How can I maintain my liposuction results?
Liposuction permanently removes fat cells and they won’t ‘grow back’. However, the remaining fat cells can expand so it’s essential to maintain a steady weight after your liposuction procedure.
