Breast Surgery

Surgical breast enhancement procedures are some of the commonest cosmetic procedures performed in the UK. Many women are unhappy with either the size or shape of their breasts, and sometimes these problems are made more noticeable by weight loss or breast feeding. Several techniques are available to enhance the size and shape of the breast.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the commonest aesthetic procedures performed. Modern silicone breast implants are manufactured in a range of sizes and shapes and can be tailored to suit the need of all suitable subjects. Depending on several factors such as skin quality and previous surgery, implants can be placed under the breast tissue (sub-mammary), under the chest muscle (sub-muscular) or in the dual plane position which is a combination of sub-mammary and sub-muscular. Anatomical implants with a more natural tear drop shape are available at an additional cost, which can give a particularly pleasing result in selected patients.

Mastopexy (breast uplift)

Mastopexy surgery is being considered by an increasing number of women, and refinements in technique now mean that results are much more predictable than in the past. Mastopexy surgery can be of benefit to women who have noticed ptosis (drooping) of the breast, often following weight loss or breastfeeding. Several techniques are available including minimal scar techniques, tailored to the precise needs of each subject. Mr Morley has particular experience in the vertical scar mastopexy, which can be combined with breast implant insertion for further enhancement of the breast.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery is often sought by women who feel that their breast size is out of proportion to the rest of their body. This can lead to symptoms such as neck and shoulder pain or skin problems, which can often be helped by surgery. Breast reduction techniques involve lifting the nipple to a higher position on the chest wall, removing excess tissue and skin and reshaping the breast in a higher position, leading to a smaller, uplifted breast shape. This procedure has one of the highest ratings of patient satisfaction.
